The next CTO Roundtable on Cyber Resilience instead of Cyber Defense will be held on Tuesday, September 16th, 2025 from 3 PM to 7 PM.
Dr. Taher Elgamal, an internationally respected information security leader, cryptographer and a Partner at Evolution Equity Partners, will lead the discussion. Taher was elected in the National Association of Engineering in 2022, received the 2019 Marconi Prize and was the recipient of the RSA Conference 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award. He is recognized as the “father of SSL”, the Internet security standard Secure Sockets Layer.
Taher served as the CTO, Security, at Salesforce.com for 10 years and as the chief scientist at Netscape, where he was a driving force behind SSL. He is the inventor of the Elgamal Encryption and Signature algorithms. He founded, served as board member, investor or advisor to more than 40 companies in the cybersecurity space. Taher has a M.S. and a Ph.D. from Stanford University in Electrical Engineering.
The Cybersecurity industry has been growing over the last few decades to protect the online experience for users and the millions of connected devices. Traditionally, organizations deploy security solutions to mitigate certain known attacks and improve the security posture of their digital systems. The focus on fixing existing issues created and continues to leave gaps in the overall security posture. To get ahead of the emerging threats, Cyber Resilience, rather that Cyber Security and Defense is what we should seek. Taher will discuss how the idea of Zero Trust Architecture can in fact be a CISO’s best tool to get to an overall resilient and secure digital environment.
