During his 14+ years in executive recruiting, Tom has conducted searches for early-stage, venture-backed to Fortune 100 companies in software, internet, aerospace/defense, biotechnology, energy, financial services, government and professional services, healthcare, and not-for-profit industries.
Prior to joining Cabot in 2002, Tom was a Principal with the Technology practice of Heidrick & Struggles, the world's largest search firm at the time. Tom's expertise was on recruiting CIOs, CTOs, VPs of Engineering and other senior IT executives across all industries, as well as senior executives for high technology companies in the hardware, software, and services areas. Before joining the executive search industry, Tom was a Director with the Gartner's Executive Programs, where his primary responsibility was to act as a personal advisor to over 200 Chief Information and Chief Technology Officers. Prior to Gartner, Tom held positions in systems analysis, and sales and marketing at Computer Associates and Xerox Corporation.
Tom's board roles include serving as the Secretary of the Washington CTO Roundtable, Secretary of the Rotary Club of Tysons Corner, IT Industry Advisory for the American Public University System (APUS), Advisory Board Member for the HMG Washington DC CIO Executive Leadership Summit, former Co-Chair of the Annual Fund for The Potomac School, and former President of the Great Falls Swim & Tennis Club. Tom is also a member of the Rotary Club of Tysons Corner and a former charter member of the Rotary Club of Great Falls.
Tom earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Economics from Duke University and is an active member of Duke's Alumni Admissions Advisory Committee.
