Washington Area CTO Roundtable

Current Meeting

Date: Thursday, September 18, 2008
Time: 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM Continental breakfast will be served
Topic: Scaling-Up Agile Development
FINRA, the regulatory association formed by the merger of NASD and NYSE, faced an enormous challenge. In just over a year, the software development group quadrupled in both number of projects (8 to 25) and people (50 to 200), doubling again in the next year and a half to 50 projects and 400 people. We will learn how they transformed a historically waterfall organization to:

  • use agile and iterative development to successfully manage 50+ projects
  • get consistency and predictability from new teams
  • coach and train developers and project managers and
  • report and demonstrate success

Come hear of one organization’s journey of growth by sucking less every quarter.

Featuring: Larry Fitzpatrick: SVP of Software Development, leader of FINRA's Software Factory organization
The discussion will be led by Larry Fitzpatrick, SVP of Software Development, and leader of FINRA's Software Factory organization. Larry is a career software developer who has "worked the entire stack" from system architecture, design, and development. Prior to joining FINRA, Larry was the Technology Vice-President at Open Text Software (OTEX) and Chief Technology Officer at Personal Library Software. He has an MS in Biomedical Engineering (Informatics) from The University of Virginia.
